FAQs
Getting Started
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, anxious, or struggling in your relationships, therapy can help. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit—therapy is a space for growth, healing, and gaining clarity.
How do I choose the right therapist?
Finding the right therapist is about fit. You want someone you feel comfortable with, who understands your needs, and whose approach aligns with your goals. I encourage you to schedule a consultation to see if we’re a good match.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is about getting to know you—your experiences, what’s bringing you to therapy, and what you hope to get out of it. It’s also a chance for you to ask questions and see if you feel comfortable working together.
Scheduling & Payment
How often do I need therapy?
Most people start with weekly sessions, but we’ll tailor the frequency to your needs. Some clients benefit from biweekly or as-needed sessions over time.
How long does therapy last?
It depends on your goals! Some people find short-term therapy (a few months) helpful, while others prefer ongoing support. We’ll check in regularly to make sure therapy is working for you.
Do you take insurance?
I am in-network with most major insurances. I offer private pay and some sliding scale options based on financial need.
I currently accept the following insurances:
Aetna
Regence/BCBS
Premera
Kaiser
Cigna
Lifewise
Triwest
Aetna Signatures
The Therapy Process
What type of therapy do you offer?
I use an integrative approach that includes Emotion-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, trauma-informed care, relational therapy, etc. Sessions are tailored to your needs, whether you're working through anxiety, trauma, relationship struggles, or personal growth.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes! Therapy is a private and judgment-free space. The only exceptions are if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, or in cases of abuse that must be reported by law.
What if I don’t know what to talk about?
That’s completely okay! Therapy is a process, and I’m here to guide you. We can start with what’s been on your mind lately or explore patterns that might be affecting your well-being.
What if I don’t feel like my therapist is the right fit?
Therapy is most effective when you feel safe and understood. If you don’t feel like we’re the right match, I encourage you to bring it up—we can adjust our approach or I can help you find a therapist who better meets your needs.
Personal Concerns
What if therapy makes me feel worse at first?
Therapy can bring up difficult emotions, especially when working through deep or painful experiences. This is a normal part of healing, and I’ll support you through it at a pace that feels right for you.
Can therapy help with relationships?
Absolutely! I work with both individuals and couples to navigate relationship challenges, improve communication, and heal from past experiences.
I feel nervous about starting therapy. Is that normal?
Yes! It’s completely normal to feel a little nervous, especially if this is your first time in therapy. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, supported, and never judged.
